New York, October 15 ( – Good reviews from critics, pent-up demand for a new Apple smartphone and the incorporation of Siri, the voice-controlled digital assistant exclusive to the Apple iPhone 4S, saw crowds clamoring for the latest offering of Apple iPhone 4S at stores around the world on the first day of its launch.

At each of the stores, people had lined up from the middle of the previous night and by the time the iPhone 4S went on sale, hundreds of people were seen waiting anxiously for their turn. It is expected that up to 4 million of these smartphones will be sold during the opening weekend.

Dorsey, a Boston resident said, “You gotta do what you gotta do,” and added that “The personal assistant is definitely interesting. The advances in intelligence are really impressive.” The launch of the 4S on Friday comes just 9 days after the death of Apple’s iconic co-founder Steve Jobs. It was Apple’s biggest product launch of the year but its homepage maintained a solemn tribute to its former CEO without any mention of the new phone.

The interest shown by enthusiastic potential buyers in iPhone 4S was a sharp contrast to the reactions of investors on the day of its announcement. On Oct. 4, Apple stock declined slightly on concerns that it would not be different from its predecessor. However, those fears were unfounded because people just want more speed and the 4S is faster.
