New York, October 31 (rainbownewsline.com) – “The Field of Dreams” movie site that is part of a 193-acre farm and is owned by Don and Becky Lansing. It has been visited by hundreds of thousands of fans who have come to this corner of Iowa to run the bases, walk in the cornfields and soak up the feel of the place, which looks much as it did in the film. On Sunday, however, the owners announced that they would be selling the farm including the field to an investment group led by a couple from the Chicago area.

The investment group said that they would keep the field as it is and also build a dozen other fields and an indoor center for youth baseball and softball tournaments. The present owners had refused offers to commercialize the site even as 65,000 people from around the world visited it every year.

In May 2010, the Lansings decided to sell the property and listed it for $5.4 million. They wanted to sell it only to someone who would preserve the authenticity of the field, which has been free to visitors. After inviting Costner to bid on the property and considering many offers, the Lansings chose Mike and Denise Stillman, who assembled a group called Go the Distance Baseball L.L.C., borrowing a line from the movie. The sale price was not disclosed by either party.
