New York, October 5 ( – Tim Cook, CEO of Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) unveiled the iPhone 5 Tuesday and highlighted the improved technological features that have been incorporated in the latest model of the iPhone such as faster speed, voice recognition, and the iCloud storage service.

The outside of the device has not been modified but more emphasis has been given to improve the processor, camera and software interface. Cook will now have the difficult task of persuading shoppers to upgrade to a new product that looks just like the earlier model. Moreover, the latest iPhone will have to face stiff competition from the plethora of smartphones using Google’s Android system like Samsung’s Galaxy S II and LG’s Thrill 4G.

Frank Gillett, an analyst at Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Forrester Research Inc. observed that Apple could not appreciate the level of expectations of consumers and that they were looking forward to a more revolutionary iPhone 5, rather than just a faster iPhone 4. He said that instead, “Apple is asking people to appreciate and give them credit for a highly engineered and integrated set of products and services.”

Apple highlighted the superior technical features at yesterday’s event saying that the A5 chip will make graphics seven times speedier and deliver twice the processing power. Phil Schiller, a senior vice president in charge of product marketing summed up saying that “Inside, it is all new,”
