Microsoft Eyeing Yahoo Takeover

October 07 00:00 2011

New York, October 7 (RainbowNewsLine.com) – Software giant Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) has reportedly been on the prowl to buy Yahoo! (NASDAQ: YHOO). Microsoft has reportedly been approached many Private Equity firms as well as the Chinese online marketplace Alibaba.com to join in the pursuit of taking over Yahoo. Microsoft is supposedly not looking for partners to complete what looks like a giant $20 billion dollar deal.

However, there have been a lot of negotiations which have been going on inside Microsoft itself with regards to whether the acquisition should be made. Sources say that everyone inside Microsoft unanimously agrees with the fact that Yahoo maybe a profitable buy. However, some sceptics believe that Microsoft has greener pastures that it could and should explore.

The Microsoft executives which are for the deal believe that Microsoft should go in for the acquisition because it will help get ahead of competitors like AOL.com. Also, Yahoo’s recent innovations have ensured that the number of visitors will increase. This also means that Microsoft can benefit from the increased usage and exploit the new platform that many advertisers may be willing to spend on.

Although, there have been no conclusive reports it is very likely that Microsoft will resume its bid for a takeover of Yahoo which it had abandoned in 2008.
